President's Message
As the largest pediatric rehabilitation facility in the country, I am proud to share that Children's Specialized Hospital recently ranked the number one “Best Place to Work in New Jersey” and has ranked in the top 15 best places to work the past four years in a row according to NJ Biz. Children’s Specialized Hospital was also named one of the “Top 100 Places to Work In Health Care” by Modern Healthcare. Children's Specialized is honored to offer inpatient “programs” in spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury and specialized infant toddler treatments. Excellence is the heart and foundation of our hospital; we are all consistently focused on improving the lives of the children we serve.
At Children's Specialized, we are dedicated to personalizing our policies, programs, facility design and even day-to-day interactions around the special patients and families we serve. When a child or parent expresses a concern, we listen and try to accommodate their needs to the best of our ability. Whether it is a small or large request, each suggestion is taken with high regard.
Providing families with the necessary tools to voice their opinions is key to successfully implementing our unique culture. Through a process of therapeutic partnerships, patient families actively serve on hospital committees and ultimately collaborate on goal development and treatment planning from a patient care perspective. In conjunction with this, both inpatients and outpatients are consistently providing the hospital with feedback, via customer satisfaction surveys issued by Press, Ganey; a recognized industry leader in evaluating patient satisfaction. We consistently apply the information that families share with us, as a basis for continual improvement of our practices and services. This perpetual collaboration ensures that Children's Specialized provides excellent and compassionate care to all of our families.
Examples of this effective collaboration range from the redesign of our registration structure at our Hamilton Outpatient Center, to the design and creation of our inpatient hospital in New Brunswick. For the first time in the state of New Jersey, our new facility brings together rehabilitation, acute care and research all dedicated to pediatrics on one campus. Each of these ideas originated from families requesting the best service for their children.
Children's Specialized's six values are key to the implementation of our “Patient-and-Family-Centered Care” culture. The values of teamwork and collaboration, integrity, compassion, excellence, fun and innovation make certain that each individual staff member will do everything possible to improve the life of a child in our care. Our talented and caring physicians, nurses, therapists and support staff are committed to providing expert and loving treatment to children with chronic illnesses and disabilities.
